And now for adventures in Ice Cream City! Ice Cream City is (was) in Namja Town in Ikebukuro. It’s since been replaced by normal dessert spots. But back then, they served hundreds of flavors of ice cream. And we’re not talking about chocolate or green tea. They had horse, chicken wings, eggplant, various fish flavors, etc.

My cousin and I decided on chicken wing and octopus, and a tiramisu as a reward. Honestly, they were kind of nasty. You could argue the “base” flavor was vanilla ice cream. But the octopus had rubbery chunks of, well…octopus strewn about that imparted the smells and flavors of the ocean. And the chicken wing had chopped up bits of cartilage and whatnot. Definitely not pleasant. The tiramisu reward though was amazing.
