My first trip back to Japan since college was a business trip for a trade show at the Tokyo Big Sight. Incidentally, the last time I was on Odaiba was for a 12-hour rave at Zepp Tokyo back in 1999. Fond memories. Tokyo was more or less completely new to me on this trip. I can’t remember much of what we did back in college, but I get the feeling we didn’t take advantage of Tokyo’s sites as well as we could have.
I was brought along by my Art Director and the head of the company to man our trade booth in the morning. They would tag in after lunch and I got to take the rest of the day off. Not a bad arrangement, right? I’d roam Tokyo the rest of the day and we’d all meet up for dinner. On top of that, the Art Director was a fan of Lost in Translation while the head of the company was a James Bond fan. This translated into two nights at the Park Hyatt and the rest of the trip at the Hotel Okura. Sweet.
